Van der Vaart rules out a comeback to Ajax

Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart spends most of his time on the bench, after the arrival of Kaka, Xabi Alonso and Esteban Granero at the Bernabeu this summer.

Rafael van der Vaart won't return to his former club Ajax. Martin Jol, coach of the Dutch side, said on Monday he hopes the Real Madrid midfielder will return to his first club this winter but Van der Vaart ruled out a comeback.

"To be fair, I think it's too early for a return to Ajax," Van der Vaart told Dutch paper De Telegraaf. "I don't know if i'll stay with Real Madrid, but there are other options."

It's reported that Hamburger SV, also one of Van der Vaart's former clubs, is interested to welcome back the playmaker in January, when the transfer window opens again.

Ajax boss Jol said on Sport 1 he would be very pleased to add Van der Vaart to his squad. "I hope he will join us, with Rafael on our team we would have the best midfield in the country. With Van der Vaart Ajax would definitely win the title."

Former Tottenham Hotspur coach Jol also hopes to lure Liverpool winger Ryan Babel and AC Milan striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, both substitutes at their clubs, back to the Amsterdam ArenA.
