Wenger praises Van Persie

Paul Haring - 2 November 2009 10:38

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie scored two goals against Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was ecstatic after the derby match against Tottenham Hotspur (3-0 win). The Frenchman praised his striker Robin van Persie who scored two goals against the arch rivals.

Wenger thinks Van Persie is a mixture between former Gunners Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp. "He is less a runner with the ball than Thierry Henry and is not completely Dennis Bergkamp because he plays high up the pitch," Wenger said on the club's official website.

"But he is the kind of player with the kind of game we have who is vital because when you play the ball through the lines to his feet, his first touch is perfect and that allows us to join in. And then he can give you a little pass which makes everybody dangerous. In the box he is intelligent and clever."
