BERLIN (AFP) - Bayern Munich's Dutch winger Arjen Robben is set for a place on the bench for Tuesday's Champions League match against Bordeaux, coach Louis van Gaal revealed on Monday.
The 25-year-old damaged his knee in the Group A 0-0 draw with Juventus at the end of September, but has made a swift recovery after a minor operation as van Gaal rested him in the goalless draw with Stuttgart last Saturday.
"I believe he will be back in the squad again, but I can't see that he will play from the start," said van Gaal.
"If he doesn't train, then he doesn't play.
"Perhaps he will come on for 30 to 35 minutes and get a goal for us."
Van Gaal will be without injured stars midfielder Franck Ribery and striker Ivica Olic while defender Daniel van Buyten and rising star Thomas Mueller are both banned after being sent off in the first leg.
Bayern lost 2-1 at Bordeaux a fortnight ago in the Champions League and van Gaal admits he is struggling for numbers with Dutch defender Edson Braafheid struggling with an ankle injury.
"I only have 18 players at my disposal, if necessary, I will promote people from the reserves," said van Gaal.
Bayern are third in Group A with Bordeaux top of the table and the German giants need a win to keep their dream of reaching the knock-out stages alive.
