Panathinaikos and AEK Athens were victorious on the first day of the Greek Champions League play-offs, as PAOK Saloniki and AE Larisa were left without points.
PAOK Saloniki hosted Panathinaikos and suffered a blow when Pablo Garcia was sent off just before the break. The match seemed to head for a draw but Euro 2004 hero Giorgios Karagounis netted a winner for the away side at two minutes from the end.
AE Larisa had a good start at AEK Athens as Facundo Parra put them ahead on nine minutes, but Michalis Pavlis equalised six minutes later.
Sasa Ilic restored Larisa's lead in the 24th minute but the points went to AEK as Gustavo Manduca (40th) and Ismael Blanco (pen. 79th) turned things around.
The next two matches are scheduled for Wednesday, as Panathinaikos host AEK while PAOK travel to face Larisa.
