Milito signs for Inter

Abhimanyu Rajput - 30 June 2009 10:40

Milito will now play his second Serie A season in the famous Blue-Black striped shirt.

Diego Milito has completed his move to Inter Milan from Genoa and will team up with former team-mate Thiago Motta, who is expected to arrive at San Siro in a few days.

The 30-year-old Argentine struck 24 goals in his debut season in Serie A last season, helping his team Genoa to a Europa League spot.

The striker has penned a four-year deal with the Nerazzurri while the fee remains undisclosed.

Italy Under-21 striker Robert Acquafresca, who spent last season on loan at Cagliari, will join Genoa as part of the Motta deal, in one of the many transfer dealings expected to go through between the two clubs.

Genoa are also close to signing Inter striker Herman Crespo and Atalanta frontman Sergio Floccari.

Why the hell does Inter keep on signing players that are past their sell-by date ?

Here is a 30 year old player who has seen better days. What kind of important contribution can this man be expected to give Inter next season ?

Moratti seems to be enamoured with Argentinian players and he interferes too much in Inter's transfer operations.

Personally, I like this signing. Both Motta and Milito had great seasons with Genoa. That is no secret. He was second scorer for Genoa behind Ibrahimovic with 25. Inter will now have the best two strikers in Serie A.

Unlike Deco and Carvalho, who I don't want at Inter, I think Milito will still have a lot to give. The reason the fee is not disclosed is because it probably was pretty low and not to offend Genoa fans. Inter and Genoa had a deal together, plus let's not forget that Milito's own desire to transfer to a bigger club may have lowered his selling price too. So Inter definitely came out a winner from this one.

Even if Milito does not prove to be helpful next season, we still have Balotelli and a new signing, the promising Arnautovic. Inter's attack is considerably better this season than last season.

But that's it for old guys at Inter. I would not like any more to come.
