Deco: "Complete midfielder", according to Motta

Italian club Inter Milan's midfielder Thiago Motta has revealed that Chelsea's out of favor Deco would be a great addition to the San Siro club.

Playmaker fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge after a bright start to the season and it is being rumored that, Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho wants to offer him a lifeline with his Italian champions.

Motta, who moved to Inter this summer from Genoa, believes his former Barcelona team-mate would be a great addition to Inter.

"When I played with him (Deco) at Barcelona, you had the best Ronaldinho while Lionel Messi was beginning to shine, but the reference point for everyone was Deco,'' said Motta in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He is the most complete midfielder there is. He would be a fantastic reinforcement.''

Deco joined Chelsea last summer from Barcelona for £8million but after a promising start, the Portuguese midfielder failed to live up to the hype and was rarely used in the second half of the campaign.

The 31-year-old is under contract with Chelsea until June 2011.

Deco has fallen out of form. He is an aging player and it is a gamble for Inter to bring in a falling star when they could invest this same money into Lyon's Ederson or Livorno's Diamanti. Some say that Inter only need Deco (who will now come at a cheaper price from Chelsea) for a short amount of time before the rising star, Coutinho, who will be 18 next season and come into Inter's first team, takes his place. But I still think that Inter should have a better alternative to Deco. And what would happen should Coutinho fail to live up to expectations. Insert Stankovic? Not if we want to have a decent shot at the Champions League. Unfortunately Deco is Mourinho's pupil. I think that it is almost certain that both he and Carvalho will arrive to Milan.

Bringing Deco to Inter would be one of the worst things that they could possibly do in this transfer market.

Deco was never great at Barcelona (that's why they let him go), nor at Chelsea. Inter doesn't need a player like him, no doubt about it !!!
