Messi hoping that Masch and Cesc join Barca

Argentine wonder kid Lionel Messi is hoping Barcelona can push through deals for Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Liverpool maestro Javier Mascherano.

Both players have been heavily linked with summer moves to the Nou Camp, with Thursday's Daily Star suggesting Barca are ready to cash in on Samuel Eto'o to raise the funding needed to move for Fabregas.

The Spaniard recently voiced his frustration at Arsenal's lack of silverware - though within hours had insisted he remained committed to the club.

That has apparently not put off his former club, though, with Mascherano also reportedly featuring on the European champions' summer shopping list.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has insisted the Argentine is "not for sale" but speculation persists in both England and Spain that a deal is on the cards.

And Messi is hoping both Fabregas and Mascherano will join him.

He told Sport: "I hope Mascherano can come and we can form a solid partnership. His qualities are always appreciated."

"The same goes for Fabregas. A good footballer like him who can contribute is always welcome."

I would argue that Macherano is much more valuable to Barcelona than Fabregas. So if Barcelona just want to purchase one player it should be Mascherano and they can put him in instead of Busquets with Xavi and Iniesta on opposite sides. If Fabregas came, he would do a lot of sitting unless Barca changed their 4-3-3.

I agree. Fabregas should stay put. If he can manage to get Arsenal into a decent CL spot, he has a real chance of becoming the type of club icon that Henry was. I also agree that he wouldn't really fit into Barca's midfeild, as he plays the same roll that Xavi and Iniesta do. As a Real supporter, I would hate to see Mascherano at the Camp Nou next season! Their squad is unbelievable, and Masch may be the only addition that would make the starting XI stronger. I think he'll end up at Barca eventually, but not this season...I hope.
