Bayern put 80m euro price tag on Ribery

Bayern Munich have set a price tag of 80 million euros on French midfielder Franck Ribery, tabloid daily Bild reported on Tuesday.

BERLIN (AFP) - Bayern Munich have set a price tag of 80 million euros on French midfielder Franck Ribery, tabloid daily Bild reported on Tuesday.

The German giants have been insisting all summer they intend to hang onto Ribery, who insists he wants to join Real Madrid.

According to Bild, Bayern have given the Spaniards an ultimatum of July 16, the day when the squad begin pre-season training, to decide if they are ready to stump up the cash or not.

The paper did not divulge their source.

With Real having prised Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United for a world record 94 million euros and also snapped up Kaka from AC Milan for 65 million euros, Bayern's general manager Uli Hoeness is determined to get top dollar, Bild stressed.

Bayern's new coach Louis van Gaal indicated on Sunday he wanted to see an end to the uncertainty over Ribery's future.

If this is true, one can only say: well done Bayern.

There is a big bonanza out there and it's called Real Madrid and everyone knows it. And Bayern's evaluation seems fair, under the circumstances, i.e. surely, if Ronaldo is worth EUR 94M, Ribery is worth at least EUR 80M.

I think that if RMadrid offer Bayern 50 M, Ribery is gone. But I've been wrong before. So let's wait and see. One thing is certain, though, one way or another the comedy will drag on past the deadline.

Madrid wont pay over than €50m for Ribéry , to us it's very important that Franck showed it clearly: I want Madrid not Munich .

Well done Bayern ? if it was your team you wont say that . Why ? All Bayern players and the staff are caling for a solution to this case , the moral of the group during training sessions is not helpful for a club which is targeting European and German trophies .

Bayern Munich are comnmitting suicide with this case , we will get Ribéry soon or later , if they try to sell him to some other club they wont find a buyer for a guy who says Madrid or nothing , except if he joins ManU who offered more money than Madrid and change his mind about Madrid , but if you know that his best friend Zidane is behind all this you will realize why Ribéry will wait his contract will be over and come for free .

Real Madrid are not bonanza , rich club yes but the golden boys are in England who want to buy players who are not interested about them . If it comes to money power we cant go in front of clubs like City and Chelsea , but the power of Madrid is not the money only but the great players who are interested to join our club .

hollyice,

When it comes to matters relative to Real Madrid you take things much too seriously. Get a grip man, this is only a game of football, it's not a matter of life and death.

And even though I'm an Inter (also Milan) fan, I have said the very same thing (big bonanza) about Moratti splashing out to buy all kinds of players, which is what he's done in the past 4-5 years.

And don't forget that it's not Bayern that have set the rules in the current transfer market, Real Madrid have done that. So, one can only say "well done" to Bayern, because they deserve to get their money's worth, the same as ManU and Milan.

I'm sure you know that, in some ways, buying a football player is like buying a race horse. Some horses win races and earn their owners some money. But there are also some unlucky horses (regardless of how much was paid for them) that break a leg and are put to sleep.

We can only wish Ronaldo, Kaka, etc., well and hope that they don't get seriously injured. I mean, EUR 200M later, it wouldn't be a good thing for Florentino Perez.

Giorgio , Perez has a list of 10 players to sell which could earn €150m for Madrid , so at the end it wont be €200 m what we spend ,we have 35 players and we need only 25 . Our cash will come back .Now saying Bonanza You are free to say it but I dont agree .We are not 1 man's club like City !

I think that Real's deal, 47 mill + Sneijder + Robben for Ribery, is actually better for Bayern. Who wouldn't want these two great players and 47 million? But I think that Bayern is now saying 80 million cash because they want to fend off attempts to sell him, knowing that Real will not pay that much. In the end, I think Ribery will go. Madrid have made Bayern a good deal if it is true.

As a Real Madrid card holding member i sincerely 'hope' that Real Madrid do NOT purchase Ribery (not just because i think he is not worth the 80 mil price tag, but because Madrid do not need anymore players).

Real has a solid squad and now it is up to all the players to play as a team and for the coach to instruct them accordingly. Lest we forget that Van Nistelroy is still amongst the merengues ranks and he is a far better player/scorer than Ribery. Moreover, if Bayern were smart (which they are not) they should keep him.

Hasta Luego.......
