Benzema: Deal done

European giants Real Madrid, who have already signed Ronaldo and Kaka for a combined £148m this summer, have reached an agreement to sign striker Karim Benzema from French side Lyon.

The Spanish club will dish out an initial £30m for the France international, a figure which could rise to £35m if performance-related clauses are met.

"Benzema will have his medical in the next few days," said a Real statement on it's official website.

Benzema, who will sign a six-year-deal at the Bernabeu, had also been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Benzema scored 23 goals in all competitions last season but could not help Lyon to a ninth consecutive league title.

Benzema had joined Lyon's youth academy at the age of nine and progressed through club's ranks before making his first-team debut aged 17.

Former France and Real Madrid great Zinedine Zidane, who is now a senior advisor at the Spanish club, is believed to have recommended Benzema to club president Florentino Perez after negotiations to sign David Villa from Valencia broke down.

"A few days ago Karim Benzema informed the club president Jean Michel Aulas of his desire to move to the Madrid club, which had always been his favourite club after Lyon, earlier than he had foreseen," said a statement on the French club's website.

"The player wanted to seize the opportunity which Real Madrid offered him to be one of the major elements in their new ambitious project based around the greatest players of the world.

"Lyon accepted Karim Benzema's decision and negotiated the conditions of a transfer which satisfies all the different parties.

"The club wishes Karim the greatest success with Real Madrid."

Real wants to buy all the strikers in this world never thinking about their poor defence, they only need ramos there at the back and everyone else should go. They score 3 goals in a match and still loss the game...

Real Madrid are so desperate to be the top team in Spain, they are doing what Chelsea did a few years back, and are trying to buy success. I don't think it will work and Real Madrid are going to find themselves deeply in debt. On paper it looks really exciting but in the real world this rarely ever works. When the Real gravy train is over, the other big teams in Europe will most probably be in an equally if not better position.

"Real Madrid are so desperate to be the top team in Spain, they are doing what Chelsea did a few years back"

Sometimes I wonder if phughes is under drugs when he talks , Chelsea were famous for being between the 6th and 12th place before Roman came and decided with his own money to break on to the top4 .

Madrid dominated football in Spain since the very first years till nowadays and won more than any other Spanish club , so , I really wonder how Madrid are trying to top or buy success .

Why not put in your mind simply that those players wanted to come and you have to go and get them ? Ronaldo , Benzema and Ribéry are very clear cases (still waiting for Ribéry), while Kaka , Alonso , Albiol were the target of Perez and if you can sign them why not ? I feel pain for some clubs who got negative answers from some players but that's not the fault of Madrid , our club worked hard to be where they are today . The fact that keeping the club a members club is really a hard and very risky choice and needs sacrifice , that's what makes some players respect the club probably , except Robinho , Makelélé and Etoo who decided to go and left to their own choice even they went to our rivals .

Hollyice. I'm talking about now, not the past. What they are doing now is not good for world football.

You had so much to say when The English Premiership were spending big money, but now the boot is on the other foot it seems to be OK with you.As for being on drugs, I think you are the one that is on drugs because you never remember what you say.

Only the other week, you said Benzema is a lazy boy, I hope he doesn't come here. I suppose you love him now, and he is the best thing since sliced bread.

If you want to make comments, be consistant or shut up.

Phughes , if ManU can get Ronaldo next year for the same price they wont hesitate to pay the money , with one condition only that Ronaldo expresses his wish to join ManU .

So dont blame Madrid for what your club can also do and pay high prices . I didnt blame English clubs for transfer fees but for the ugly football they play if you remember well .

My club is the one who payed high fees for other clubs how can I blame them? Why I didnt blame other leagues where they play beautifull football ?

An other reason I hated ManU was Alex who didnt keep his mouth with calling us by such ugly words .

About Benzema I do say it still he is a lazy boy and he has not strong shootings after I ve seen him playing with France ane Lyon .Now that he said to his boss Real or nothing why not give to him a chance .

I know you talked a lot about the ugly football, even when United played well you used to slag them off.

If Madrid don't do well this season will you talk about all the ugly money they wasted on players, trying to be the best. I think not.

Your problem is that you see things like a horse with blinkers on, and never agree with anyone else's ideas. You are not always right about things but will never admit it.

You talk about poor losers and things like that, but you need to look in the mirror and look at yourself and the things that you comment about.
