Valencia striker David Villa celebrates after scoring for Spain in last month´s Confederations Cup victory over Iraq in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Spanish media are reporting that Villa -- one of the stars of Spain´s victorious Euro 2008 squad -- has been in touch with Barcelona about a move to the European champions.

MADRID (AFP) - Valencia striker David Villa, one of the stars of Spain's victorious Euro 2008 squad, has been in touch with Barcelona about a move to the European champions, Spanish media said Thursday.

"I only want to go to Barca," Villa told Barcelona's technical director Txiqui Begiristain at a secret meeting, the Catalan sports paper Mundo Deportivo said.

He said "that there are only two alternatives: to agree on his transfer to Barca or he is ready to see out his contract with Valencia," the daily Sport reported.

It said the 27-year-old has rejected interest from Chelsea and from Barca's arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Barcelona, which won a unique treble of league, Spanish cup and European Champions League trophies last season, is ready to offer Villa contract of four or five years, said Mundo Deportivo.

It all depends on Eto'o.

If Eto'o leaves and Villa comes in, Barca will win fewer titles next year, if any. Villa has not shown he can score in big games. I'm hoping that a miracle occurs and Villa stays at Valencia and we keep Eto'o. I don't know why Laporta and Guardiola wanna take such a step Backwards. I cannot blame Eto'o for leaving (if he does). Laporta and Guardiola continue to disrespect him and trying to force him out the back door. Great job first year Guardiola, but this is your first big mistake. Laporta we all know loves the spotlight and his ego has failed him here. Again, great job last year, horrible this offseason.

villa is much better, parti what are you talking about. eto gets at least twice as many chances per game as villa did. look at the creation of the respective teams, there's no comparison. despite this, eto only scored two more goals than villa did. did you even watch eto in the second half of the season, he would need 2 or 3 golden chances before putting a single one away. we cant have that. the only problem with villa transfer is that he will be worthless in 4-5 years and we wont get any money for him. hes got 3 or 4 more years of first team barca level then hes done. its the opposite of what man united are doing. but we will see how it goes, i have faith, villa is filthy.
