Jozy Altidore scores a goal for the USA national team

VILLARREAL (SW) - Spanish side Villarreal CF have rejected Everton's loan offer for talented striker Jozy Altidore. The english side hoped to sign the youngster for the rest of the season.

Everton have been struggling with injuries recently, with forwards Aiyegbeni Yakubu, James Vaughn and Louis Saha all sidelined.

Spanish sportspaper Marca reports that Villarreal president Fernando Roig has rejected Everton's bid, forcing the Premiership side to keep looking for a way to solve their striker crisis.

The 19-year-old American has only made six appearances for Villarreal this season, but is nevertheless valued at 7.5 million Euros. Altidore also played six games for the USA national team and scored twice.

Everton would probably play this guy, only 6 appearances for Villarreal. It'd be interesting and get more Yanks in the Premier League like Dempsey and others are doing. Everton might be awesome with him. They are talking Euros vs. Pounds, I'd think, 4 million pounds or a bit lower.

only 6 games? that's funny, he's listed as "ones to watch" in 2009 in FIFA website.

anyway, they claim them to be young players, but also list Michel Bastos (25) and Martin Morel (28)
