Schalke 04 release Lovenkrands

GELSENKIRCHEN (SW) - German side Schalke 04 ave released Danish international striker Peter Lovenkrands from his contract.
The 28-year-old Dane joined Schalke in 2006 but never managed to break through with six goals in 44 games. This season, he hasn't made a single appearance and was even moved to the club's reserve squad.
Lovenkrands' career began at Akademisk Boldklub in 1998 and the forward joined Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers in 2000. In the following six seasons, he scored 37 goals in 129 appearances.
At the international level, Lovenkrands won 21 caps and formed part of the Danish team for the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004.
