Michael Owen

TURIN (SW) - Juventus are reportedly ready to join the race for English striker Michael Owen, who is expected to leave Newcastle United at the end of the season.

The forward has been in good form lately and attracted the interest of several European top teams. Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Internazionale had already been mentioned, and are now joined by the "Old Lady".

Owen joined Newcastle from Real Madrid in 2005 but has been struggling with several injuries since. Only recently, the player managed to get his career back on track. This season, he scored nine goals in 19 appearances.

The Magpies did offer Owen a new contract, as his current deal expires in the summer, but Owen rejected the proposal.

Owen gained fame with Liverpool from 1996 to 2004, and was at the time considered to be one of England's greatest talents. A year at Real Madrid didn't do the player any good though and he soon returned to England to join Newcastle United. In total, he scored 25 goals in 59 games with the Toon.
