Sneijder forced to leave Real Madrid

20 August 2009 01:11

Wesley Sneijder is no longer welcome at Bernabeu

Wesley Sneijder will no longer play at Real Madrid, according to Spanish media. The Dutchman has yet to find a new club.

Marca reported that the midfielder won't form part of Manuel Pellegrini's plans for the coming season, and isn't even allowed to take part in training.

Real Madrid's preferred option is to sell Sneijder to Italian side Internazionale for a fee of 15 million Euros, but the player himself hasn't agreed terms with the Serie A outfit.

The now 25-year-old joined Real Madrid in 2007, after five years with the team of Ajax Amsterdam. Since his move to Spain, the player scored 11 goals in 52 games.

Sneijder is the third Dutchman to be disposed of by Real Madrid this summer. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar joined AC Milan while Rafael van der Vaart is still looking for a new team. Arjen Robben is likely to stay, but the futures of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Royston Drenthe remain doubtful.

This is really shamefull. I knew that the directors were looking to move Sneijder (even though he wants to stay), but, if it's true that they won't even let him train... wow! That's a really poor way for the biggest club in the world to treat it's players. Sneijder, go to Inter. You'll get the playing time you deserve, and Inter have always treated our "cast-offs" well. The fans will love your football, and you'll have a chance to push for a spot in the national team. Good luck.

Sneijder, Robben, Drenhte, van Nistelroij, van der Vart, Raul, Guti all should leave Real Madrid.

Real do not need losers......

The GREAT Dutch experiment appears to be over! Now, all Real have to do is get RID of GUTTI & RAUL and then the BEST of them all Casillas will be the ONLY player left that have been playing with the team since the 90's.

Does anybody know IF Vannistelroy has even played a single game for Real as of yet?????

This isn't very surprising. Real Madrid bought some new players that they think will bring them success and now they say to all the faithful players, "You are no longer part of this team. Go away." The problem is that they want to sell the players so that they can make some money back from the extravagant purchases they made this year. The players don't want to leave. They say, "I understand that some new players have arrived, but I want to take my chances with Madrid and respect my contract with the team." RMA executives don't want to hear it and they say, "You know what? You are not allowed to train with us any more."

This is really not the way that a top club should behave. Not only because this is unbecoming, but also because it is in direct violation with contractual agreements. If a player is under contract with a football club, you have to provide training and a shirt number. They didn't even bother to give a shirt number to Van der Vaart before they kicked him out. Well they gave a shirt number to Sneijder, but they're kicking him out all the same. It's pretty sad for footballers all around the world to see that clubs with money can treat them this way if they want to.

If I were Sneijder and VdV or any other Dutch and am being forced out of the club, against lawful, contractual agreements, I would sue the club for breach of contract. Then I would leave as a free agent to the team that offers me the best opportunity. I think that's what VdV and his team is considering doing.

RMA should have a little more respect for players that have been with them for years and not throw them out the window as soon as some money comes along their way and they buy some new and expensive ones.

It is shameful. Sneijde is very good, but he will have more playing time now.

Avi82, to put Robben with the others is just ignorant.

oasisthunder, right on!

hollyice, I hope you're right, you pompous Spaniard you, but this is an experiment so far....

Oh, how I wish that would say, "RAUL forced to leave Real Madrid"

Hollyice,

you are such an intimidator!... Hah haaa. Little Alboi.... Cracking....

But, be prapered. Real Madrid is not unbeatable YET.....

You know, Ferguson said Real Madrid has no balance. I think he is right. The team with Arbeloa or Miguel Torres at right back, Marcelo or Drenhte at left back (comparing with the wingers who will play in front of them) is very weak and vulnerable. If Ramos will play as a right back (he is probably the strongest defender in the team despite he makes stupid errors), Pepe and Albiol would play at centre back. Both players are mediocre. Metzelder is second fiddle, and Garay is too young and inexperienced. Last year Real Madrid conceded many goals despite having one of the best goalkeepers. Still, they haven’t brought world class centre back.

Chelsea with Terry and Carvalho, Man Utd with Vidic and Ferdinand, even Liverpool with Carragher and Agger/Skrtel are still difficult to beat even though you have the best wingers, attacking midfielders and strikers.

Real has the best wingers (Ronaldo, Robben, Higuain, even Raul), attacking midfielders (Kaka, Sneijder, van der Vart), central midfielders (Xabi Alonso, Lass Diarra, Gago, Guti, Granero, M. Diarra), strikers (Benzema, van Nistelroij, Raul, maybe Higuain). But defence is STILL very very vulnerable against defensive, anti-football teams like Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd.

Avi82, I had no idea you were so well informed on the beautiful game, but remember that old adage: "The best defense is offense." Real Madrid have a terrific offense.

Big bad Hollyice,

Please relax. You are scaring me and will give me a heart attack from behind the screen. I am afraid of your Real. They will destroy my Inter. One question. How old are you?

Why don't you try sticking to the topic at hand, i.e.: how real is treating Sneijder. Do you think it's right or not and why? That's what I'm interested in discussing. Leave the childish threats behind. When the time comes for Inter and Real Madrid to face each other, the best team will win. End of story. Nobody will be destroyed. Both teams will still be top teams with a great history and fan base. So i don't know what you're trying to say. Do you have an intelligent response to the article or are you just trying to scare me away "out of here like newty and phughes"? Lol that won't happen because I know Inter isn't perfect and I know that sometimes they lose and sometimes they win. I'll still be a fan no matter what some people screaming at me half way around the world say. Lol, be serious for a change.
