Adnan Polat has been elected the new president of Galatasaray AS.

The 55-year-old businessman, who has just served his second spell as vice-president under Özhan Canaydýn having previously held the role in the 1990s, collected 2,148 votes to 230 for his only rival Nazým Durak. Polat said: "To be the new president of Galatasaray is the greatest honour I could have in my life."
