PARIS (AFP) - Jacobson Adriaanse will replace Giovanni Trapattoni as coach of Salzburg next season, the top Austrian side announced on Thursday.

The experienced 60-year-old Dutchman, currently based in Qatar with Al-Saad Sport Club, was elected manager of the year in Portugal in 2006 after guiding FC Porto to the Cup and league double.

Adriaanse has also had spells as manager of Ajax and AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands.

The position with Salzburg, the Austrian defending champions, became available following Italian Giovanni Trapattoni's move to coach the Republic of Ireland.
