At the weekend it was announced in Lagos, the capital of Nigeria, that MTN Nigeria Ltd., a telecommunication company, has put up a lucrative N150 million sponsorship for a government organised Street Soccer Championship.

The Championship is due to commence on 29 May.

It is also envisaged that the Championship will take football to all streets and corners right across the country.

The Championship is almost certain to keep the millions of children busy and give them the opportunity to display their inherent skills. The money that is earned from the Championship will be used to set up numerous cyber cafés for the youth across the country.

A committee has already been formed for the inspection of the venues and facilities.
