ALKMAAR (SW) - AZ Alkmaar secured their first win of the Dutch season against defending champions PSV Eindhoven, who in turn had their perfect record come to an end.
Fans at the Alkmaarderhout witnessed a rather defensive PSV, who allowed AZ to take the initiative.
And the home side rewarded themselves for their effort with a goal from Belgian Maarten Martens in the 82nd minute.
Depending on Sunday's results, PSV are set to drop a few spots while AZ should begin their climb to the top half of the table.
