Quick Report: Spain 1-0 Bosnia-Herzegovina

Jonathan Roorda - 7 September 2008 00:23

David Villa scored the only goal of the match

MURCIA (SW) - European Champions Spain earned their first three points on the road to the 2010 World Cup, beating Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 late on Saturday.

Traditionally the last match to start in the European qualifiers, the match in Murcia kicked off at 22:00 local time.

the first half went by without goals but the Spanish did secure the victory in the second. David Villa got past the opposing goalkeeper and scored from a very tough angle to make it 1-0.

Barcelona's Bojan Krkic formed part of the selection of this match but didn't make an appearance yet, meaning that in theory, he could still choose to play for the Serbian team in the future.

Spain and Bosnia were drawn into Group 5 with Turkey, Belgium, Estonia and Armenia.

Spain squeeked by, this doesn't look like such an easy group with Belgium winning today, Turkey and Bosnia. BiH were a Brave team today! My friend Nermann and his cousin play in our pickup games, they are from Bosnia but Nermann speaks just like an American and plays American Football, blonde and blue eyed, I am not sure what his ethnic background is,. Another guy is most likely a Bosniac, fast and a smaller guy...

Villa's goal was a clear offside. Not the way the european champion should win its games.

Spain defeted very mediocrite team from Bosnia, with goal from offside.I'm a little conserned about that. Ok, the team is young and good, but i still think they need a leader with more experience.

Escape_to_Victory: Do you mean his name is Nermin? Because that is a typical Bosniak (muslim) name.

Cile_Car: okay, that must be it. Thanks.

It shows Spain really depends on Torres: I don't know if they called up Raul, if one of these others could have made the difference, new coach too, so I give them a break.

Villa seems to be good when he has Silva behind him.

Actually, Torres was cold some in the Euro tournament but got the important goal to win against Germany. Teams need players whereas if one can't get it done, obviously, someone else can.

Agree on that one, I just wanted to say that it's not true that Spain can rely on Torres so much. In Euro 2008 the only really important goal from him was in the final whereas in the other games he looked rather ordinary
