VALLETTA (SW) - Portugal had no significant difficulties on the Isle of Malta on Saturday, beating their opponents 0-4 in their first World Cup qualifier.

It did take until the 38th minute for Portugal to open the score, with some help from the home team as Said put the ball past his own goalkeeper.

Hugo Almeida doubled the lead just after the hour mark and Simao made it 0-3 in the 71st minute.

The fourth and final goal came from Nani in the 78th minute, helping Portugal to a comfortable victory.

Portugal are favorites in Group 1, especially with main rivals Sweden and Denmark both dropping points in their openers.

Well, first goal came at minute 25 (lights went out in the stadium and the game was paused for 11 minutes). Good and patient game from Portugal, but when Quaresma and C. Ronaldo are in condition, the team will be even stronger! But some players aren`t worth of being in first team: Carlos Martins, Hugo Almeida and maybe Nani (not so good when it comes to "teamplay).

Best players tonight: Deco and Bosingwa. (Sadly, it`s hard for Zenit`s Danny to get a first team place, due to Deco great condition.)

Now let`s beat Denmark!
