ENSCHEDE (SW) - World governing body FIFA have suspended Serbian Slobodan Rajkovic for no less than a year, following a spitting incident at the Olympics in China.

During the match with Argentina, Rajkovic spit referee Abdullah Al Hilali in the face.

Rajkovic plays on loan from Chelsea at Dutch club FC Twente. The suspension also affects club football, meaning a big blow to the team currently led by Steve McClaren.

Chelsea and Twente, as well as the Serbian football association have announced to appeal. The Serbian FA reacted saying: "He made a mistake, but this suspension goes too far.
