Paolo Di Canio, pictured in 2005, wants the vacant manager´s spot at English Premier League club West Ham United, the controversial Italian´s agent said Thursday.

LONDON (AFP) - Paolo Di Canio wants the vacant manager's spot at English Premier League club West Ham United, the controversial Italian's agent said Thursday.

Di Canio believes he can pick up the mantle left after Alan Curbishley this week stepped down over a disagreement with the club's management.

"We have made moves to talk to West Ham and advised them that he wants to be considered," agent Phil Spencer told BBC Sport.

"He wouldn't be putting himself up for the job if he didn't think he was capable of doing it.

"He just wants the opportunity to sit in front of the decision makers at West Ham to tell them what he would do and how he would take them forward.

He added: "Unfortunately he can't do that unless they invite him to do so."

Di Canio signed for West Ham from Sheffield Wednesday in 1999, making 118 appearances over four years to earn legendary status with Upton Park fans.

"He's had lots of support from fans that would like to see him, I think he is the fans' favourite for the job," added Spencer.

"But that doesn't always mean anything so we're hopeful that we will get the opportunity to at least speak to West Ham."

"You don't always get what you want, but the situation is they have to do the right thing for West Ham and Paolo loves West Ham, he's doing his coaching badges and he's very serious about managing."

And now Donadoni has made himself available, I think he'd be a good choice, the way Italy dumped a bunch of garbage on him 'cause his team lost only on a penalty shootout to the eventual winners, Spain.

I've just had a look at your profile as I was confused with your change of badge, your soccer moment explained to me your reasons for change but I'm still confused at your choice of Blackburn? I'm assuming that because of your relationship with the lady in Yorkshire you chose Rovers, if this is the case you may want to reconsider your choice as Blackburn Rovers are in the county of Lancashire, hence the red rose on the badge. Yorkshires county flower is the white rose, hence the white rose on Leeds United’s badge. Lancashire and Yorkshire have had a history of intense rivalry going back to the war of the roses in 1455 which was between the House of Lancaster and the House of York.

I knew it was something like that, still a solid team, Lancashire, Yorkshire... right, that was some time ago, I've still watched them for a few years. Thank You.
