LONDON (SW) Everton forward Ayegbeni Yakubu is out for the reason of the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon during Sunday's Premiership clash with Tottenhan Hotspur in London.
Yakubu went down during a challenge with Tottenham's Ledley King and initially seemed okay to continue. Not much later though, the Nigerian had to come off for Louis Saha.
"He's done his Achilles and that's him out for the season," said Everton manager David Moyes afterwards.
To make things worse, substitute Saha suffered a hamstring injury and had to be stretchered off as well. With James Vaughan set to undergo knee surgery, only Victor Anichebe is available up front in coming matches.
