Quick report: Late Terry goal leaves Germany empty-handed

Jonathan Roorda - 19 November 2008 23:13

John Terry

BERLIN (SW) - Things are looking up for Fabio Capello's England side, after a 1-2 victory over arch rivals Germany.

In the days ahead of this match, Capello had one injury case after the other to deal with. In the end, the list of absentees had little influence on the game.

Matthew Upson put the English in the lead after 23 minutes, and Germany were stuck finding the right reply until after the hour mark when Patrick Helmes levelled, 1-1.

But England would get the winner they craved, as Chelsea captain John Terry restored his side's lead with just six minutes to go.

Fred's "infallible prediction."

GERMANY - ENGLAND 2 - 2 (0 - 1)

Well, at least I had the first half score right! What a great job my Fabio Capello is doing!

PS. soccerwinner predicted Germany to win 1 - 0.

Expected result, but England will lose when it matters. Germany still my pick for SA 2010.

DaJohnner, I thought you predicted a Germany win today.
