Domžale complete title defence
NK Domžale celebrated their second successive league championship on Monday night after confirming their supremacy in Slovenia with victory over cup winners FC Interblock.
FC Koper's 2-1 defeat at NK Drava on Sunday had left Domžale six points clear and with a game in hand over their second-placed rivals, who had just two games left to play. Slaviša Stojanoviæ's side, who also had a vastly superior goal difference, made mathematically sure of the title by defeating Interblock 3-2. "It is final proof that we were number one this year," said striker Jože Benko, who has scored four goals in his last six games.
Croatian striker Dario Zahora struck twice in the win against Interblock to join NK Primorje's David Bunderla at the top of the Slovenian scorers' chart with 17 goals. "I won several titles with [NK] Dinamo Zagreb, so the feeling of winning a title is not new for me," said Zahora. "However, it's nice to be the best in Slovenia, because I was one of the key players."
