Portsmouth´s Manager Harry Redknapp celebrates with the FA Cup trophy after their FA Cup final match against Cardiff City at Wembley football Stadium, London, on May 17. Redknapp has been told he can stay at Portsmouth for as long as he wants after masterminding the club´s first FA Cup success for 69 years.

PORTSMOUTH, England (AFP) - Harry Redknapp has been told he can stay at Portsmouth for as long as he wants after masterminding the club's first FA Cup success for 69 years.

Redknapp has sealed his status as a Fratton Park legend thanks to Saturday's 1-0 victory over Cardiff at Wembley, which also booked the team's first ever European campaign.

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie - who worked with Redknapp when they were both at West Ham - made it clear there is no chance of the manager being allowed to leave.

Storrie insisted reports Redknapp may quit in the close-season were wide of the mark and, asked if the former West Ham boss would be staying, he said: "Definitely. He absolutely loves it here, this is his home.

"He enjoys being manager of Portsmouth this is his team a team he put together and now he wants to go on.

"As far as (owner) Sacha Gaydamak is concerned Harry is here for as long as Harry wants to be here and let's hope that is for many, many years to come.

"Harry loves the job and you could see what Saturday meant for him."

one lucky cup and job for life ? LOL.........

the owners better look at Redknapp's record at West Ham where with talented players at the club, he still managed to get them relegated ............LOL..........

i expect next season to be the beginning of the downhill slide............

Harry for life in pompey?Whao, its a big offer for grand daddy.I wish they could continue like this for many years to come, but unfortunately this is gonna be their best season ever cos they aint gonna get another chance to take the premiership by storm unless mr Gaydamak's ready to prove his financial prowess in the transfer market.Wait a minute, Portsmouth are already in europe next season for the UEFA challenge.I hope they dont end up in relegation while fighting for honors. It once happened to Bolton and they almost paid the price. They need a large pool of tested and trusted players to maintain their premiership status come next season.Signing Harry for life do not really count in this regard.Heavy cash in the transfer market should equally be part of the bargain.
