Chelsea must win for Abramovich to fulfil his dream of European domination, says Claudio Ranieri

Dave Cohen - 17 May 2008 06:31

Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich

Former Chelsea coach Claudio Ranieri has said that Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovich has to win the Champions League final against English rivals Manchester United on Wednesday for the owner to believe that his project involving European domination is still on track.

Chelsea meet Manchester United in the Moscow final next Wednesday having been beaten to this season's Premier League title by their fierce rivals on Sunday.

Ranieri was sacked by Abramovich shortly after he had led Chelsea to the 2004 semi finals of the Champions League.

Ranieri’s failure to win the semi final clash that year dented the billionaire’s desire to dominate European football and the Russian boss sees this as his ultimate aim.

Ranieri, himself will be back in the European Champions League next season as his club Juventus finished third in this season’s Serie A.

Since when Ranieri's opinions matter ? He needs to get over Roman sacking him and move foward. Chelsea will win Essien and Ballack will be the keys they are playing on top of their game . Ronaldo's distractions this week haven't helped either.
