CFR 1907 Cluj won the Romanian Cup final by beating AFC Unirea Voluntari Urziceni 2-1 at the Ceahlaul stadium in Piatra Neamt to add to the first title triumph in their 101-year history.

The cup success caps an amazing season for the club given that it is also the first time they have taken that trophy as well. It is the fourth Romanian Cup to be won by coach Ioan Andone after he previously tasted glory three times with FC Dinamo 1948 Bucureºti.

It had been 14 years since the final was played out by two teams from outside Bucharest and for the first time in 13 years a team from outside that city claimed the trophy. The last provincial team to achieve this was FC Petrolul Ploiesti when they overcame FC Rapid Bucureºti in 1995.
