Anorthosis ends the season undefeated

Anorthosis Famagusta underlined their dominance in Cyprus as they rounded off their Division A campaign undefeated thanks to a 3-0 victory against nearest rivals APOEL FC.

Such has been Temuri Ketsbaia's side supremacy in Cyprus this term, they secured the title in mid-April despite having three games to play in the end-of-season play-offs. It was a dominance further underlined in Larnaca as Polish striker £ukasz Sosin struck a hat-trick to secure a 3-0 win against APOEL, Anorthosis' 20th three-point haul of the campaign while they have drawn 12. They have lost twice in all competitions, however, 6-1 to Tottenham Hotspur FC in the UEFA Cup and 1-0 to Apollon Limassol FC in the Cypriot Cup semi-finals, the latter of which they overturned in the return leg.

Anorthosis will complete a memorable season with victory in the final next weekend – again versus APOEL – though coach Ketsbaia was content to savour their unbeaten achievement. In Bulgaria, PFC CSKA Sofia could match Anorthosis' achievement as with one game to go they too are yet to lose this term.
