Klasnic relishing Croatia return

Croatia continue preparations for EURO 2008 with a friendly against Scotland at Hampden Park tonight, a game invested with special significance for striker Ivan Klasniæ.
The 28-year-old Werder Bremen player won the last of his 26 caps on 7 October 2006, scoring Croatia's fifth goal in a 7-0 win against Andorra to take his national-team tally to eight. However, his career was then interrupted by a series of kidney transplant operations which sidelined the forward for more than a year before his triumphant return to the Bremen side. Three goals in four Bundesliga starts since his November comeback have caught the eye of Croatia coach Slaven Biliæ and, with star striker Eduardo da Silva injured, they might yet earn Klasnic a place at this summer's finals. |
