BELGRADE (AFP) - Serbian football federation (FSS) president Zvezdan Terzic, who is wanted by police and has reportedly left Serbia, announced Wednesday that he has resigned.
"Because of the situation in which I find myself I'm resigning from my post as the FSS president. I'm proud of what I've achieved ... as FSS president," Terzic told the Beta news agency. Terzic left Serbia last month and is reported to be living in Britain. An arrest warrant was issued for his arrest last Tuesday for alleged abuse of power and embezzlement. Terzic has been FSS president since January 2005. Serbian football has been rocked by several scandals in the past month. Ratko Butorovic, president of first division Vojvodina Novi Sad, was arrested in January for allegedly being implicated in match-fixing. |
