Defender Bruno Alves has prolonged his contract with FC Porto and will stay with the UEFA Champions League hopefuls until 2012.
Alves, whose latest contract was due to expire in 2010, signed a two-year extension ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League first knockout round visit of FC Schalke 04, where the Portuguese champions will try to overturn a 1-0 defeat in Germany. The 26-year-old central defender said: "I feel that my work and dedication were rewarded. My blood is blue and this renewal is a stimulation for me.
