NEUSTIFT, Austria (AFP) - Spanish striker David Villa, fresh from hitting the first hattrick at Euro-2008 in his country's thrashing of Russia, has suffered a hairline fracture of his right index finger, Spanish Football Federation spokeswoman Paloma Antoranz said Wednesday.
"He has a hairline fracture which will not prevent him from playing in the next match" Saturday against Sweden, Antoranz told AFP after the Valencia striker had a radiography session.
Villa picked up the injury as he celebrated his first goal along with strike partner Fernando Torres.
"It's nothing serious. I was celebrating my first goal with Fernando and I caught my finger on his shirt. It hurt a bit," said Villa.
