FULL TIME - Germany record their first Euro win since the 1996 final against the Czech Republic (2-1 aet). Poland will have to focus on their remaining two matches in order to try and make it to the next round after all.

Minute 90+1: Miroslav Klose gets to the showers first as the forward comes off for Kevin Kuranyi.

Minute 90+1: Poland have three added minutes left for a miracle.

Minute 89: Podolski wants a third but his shot goes about two meters over Boruc's crossbar.

Minute 84: Scary moment for Germany as Lehmann needs a bit of luck to control a Saganowski effort.

Minute 81: Schweinsteiger tries his luck from just outside the penalty area but Boruc saves.

Minute 80: Poland seem defeated now and if anything, it's more likely that Germany get a third.

Minute 75: Poland's last substitution has Golanski coming off for Marek Saganowski. Germany meanwhile, takes off Gomez for Hitzlsperger.

Minute 75: Podolski is now top scorer of the tournament.

Minute 72: <b>GOAL GERMANY (2-0) LUKAS PODOLSKI</b> - Very poor defense from Golanski allows Klose to shoot on goal. His effort is blocked but Podolski shows no mercy in the rebound.

Minute 72: Krzynowek fires a shot on goal but Lehmann saves.

Minute 70: Germany come very close to a second goal. Lahm storms down the right wing and finds Ballack, but his following shot is tipped over the crossbar by goalkeeper Artur Boruc.

Minute 65: Poland's second substitution has Piszczek replacing Lobodzinski.

Minute 64: Bastian Schweinsteiger commits a foul and is next to appear in the referee's administration.

Minute 62: Ebi Smolarek receives a pass right through the defense and finds the net after hitting the post, but he's judged off-side. A controversial call.

Minute 61: Podolski seems okay now and returned to continue this match.

Minute 60: Lewandowski gets booked for a rather violent foul on Podolski, who seems hurt.

Minute 58: Ballack finds Klose with a left-wing cross but the Bayern Munich forward heads over.

Minute 55: Löw makes his first chance and Schweinsteiger comes on for Fritz.

Minute 55: There's a good chance for Poland but Krzynowek's shot goes a few meters wide of the right post.

Minute 54: It's a rather calm start to this second half as no real chances have been created yet. Poland will have to try harder if they want to avoid a defeat tonight.

Minute 48: Poland manager Leo Beenhakker made one change for the second half, as Brazilian-born Guerreiro replaces captain Zurawski.

Minute 46: The second half has begun.

HALF TIME - The first half is over with Germany leading 1-0 in the Austrian town of Klagenfurt. Joachim Löw's men also created the better chances, although Poland were close to equalising in a few occasions as well.

Minute 45+2: The last chance of the first half is a shot from Lewandowski on the German goal but it lacks strength and Lehmann controls.

Minute 44: Poland are still trying but haven't been able to create any real chances in this phase of the game.

Minute 39: Ebi Smolarek fouls Per Mertesacker and is the first player in this match to receive a yellow card from Swedish referee Ovrebo.

Minute 38: The match is played at a high pace as now it's Germany again to create a chance. Fritz finds Gomez but the ball eventually goes wide.

Minute 36: Poland come close to levelling the score as Zurawski receives the ball in the penalty area but his diagonal shot goes just wide of the far post.

Minute 35: Shots from Krzynowek and Lewandowski are both blocked by Ballack, who now shows his importance in defense.

Minute 32: Dangerous attack from Germany and Podolski sends in a fast cross from the left but Bak clears just in time.

Minute 31: Germany get a free kick as Michael Ballack is brought down by Krzynowek. Ballack takes it but hits the wall.

Minute 28: Shot from a difficult angle by Lobodzinski but Lehmann controls the ball.

Minute 27: Podolski's corner is way too high and reaches no-one.

Minute 27: Corner kick to Germany on the right side.

Minute 20: <b>GOAL GERMANY (1-0) - LUKAS PODOLSKI</b> has the easy task of shooting into an empty goal after receiving the ball from another Polish-born attacker, Miroslav Klose. A well-performed attack and Germany lead!

Minute 16: Free kick to Germany on the right wing. Podolski almost finds Metzelder but a defender gets to it first.

Minute 12: Chance for Germany as a Klose effort ends up near Podolski, but the latter Polish-born striker doesn't manage to head towards goal.

Minute 9: Dangerous low cross from Lobodzkinski but nobody gets a foot to it.

Minute 4: Enormous chance to Germany as Klose storms towards the goal with Gomez on the right side. Klose makes the pass but Gomez fails to convert for 1-0. Poland feel it was off-side in the first place.

Minute 2: Lehman looks a bit shakey in the goal and allows Krzynowek to try a shot but it goes high.

Kick-off: The fourth match of Euro 2008 has begun, and Poland will attempt to beat Germany for the first time ever.

Pre-match: The anthems have been played in Klagenfurt, where the temperature is comfortable at 18 degrees Celsius. There's a little bit of rain too.
