In the future when they talk about great players from Manchester United, Paul Scholes should be one of the first to be mentioned. A quiet guy who shuns all the publicity and just gets on with the job. A great player and a credit to Premier League football.

phughes, see my comments on "Tevez has his say" there is a link to an article you might be interested in!

phughes699 July 24th, 2008 17:50

OK, I will check it out. Cheers!

Newtonheath1878, that was a very interesting article. It reminds me of myself here in Thailand. I have been a school teacher here for many years, and like Paul Scholes I liked the job but not all the crap that goes with the job.

newtonheath1878 July 24th, 2008 18:08

Admirable profession Paul!

chakal July 24th, 2008 18:31

good footballer!!! i hope he doesn't go to a small club fo big bucks and get humiliated like most great players have. retire when you still have a decent level of game.

FManiac24 July 24th, 2008 19:12

Yes, like Henrik Larsson whose appearance on EURO 2008 for Sweden was almost a torture for eyes! He should have retired after winning the Champions League title with Barcelona in 2006.

Scholes is pure class. One of the best players to ever touch a ball.

chakal July 24th, 2008 22:27

Cameroon--- what are you saying? step away from the pipe....j/k

BesTalentScout July 25th, 2008 06:35

more likely Man Utd will GET RID of Scholes before he chooses to leave.......

DaJohnner July 25th, 2008 07:12

He's average at best...but definitely a hard worker, I'll give him that. Will not be remembered in 20 years.

newtonheath1878 July 25th, 2008 09:59

Surprise, surprise, DaJohnner thrills us again with his total lack of knowledge of the game. If you were to ask any football enthusiast/pundit/commentator/journalist even footballers themselves to name a midfield players over the past two decades who stand head and shoulders above the rest Scholes would be one of the first to roll off their lips, except, of course, if you were to ask a scouse tosspot. Scholes average, give me a break, DaJohnner your intelligence is below average at best!

Tontodonati July 25th, 2008 14:32

I must admit that I'm enjoying the verbal exchange between newtonheath and DaJohnner.
At half time the score is:
Newtonheath 6 -DaJohnner 0.
DaJohnner, do you think you can level the score by the end of the next 45 minutes?

BesTalentScout July 25th, 2008 15:08

newtonheath

DaJohnner is right again..........Scholes is a good player but no one will remember him in 20years...............

heck, i bet you wouldn't remember Scholes in 10years..........LOL

phughes699 July 25th, 2008 15:52

I will!...LOL

ajax72 July 25th, 2008 16:36

20 years? You must be joking. He won't last 2 years. Players like him are the mules of football and I doubt someone will remember a mule for 20 years. Racing horses - yes, but mules...

phughes699 July 25th, 2008 16:59

DaJohnner is a Liverpool fanatic...poor soul. I like to visit Liverpool from time to time to look for my stolen car wheels.

Paul Scholes is better than your favorite midfielder.

Tontodonati July 26th, 2008 00:21

Gentlemen, I would like to know if any team broke the world record for the fastest goal held by Fiorentina in the year 1956-7 Serie A season. They scored the first goal after 11 seconds. I don't remember if the player was Guido Gratton, Virgili or Montuori. Help me on this one!
