Sebastian Coe targets Sir Alex Ferguson as England’s coach at 2012 Olympic Games

Dave Cohen - 20 July 2008 18:12

Sir Alex Fergusson, manager of Manchester United

According to Sebastian Coe, the organising committee chairman of the London Olympic Games in 2012, Sir Alex Ferguson would be the ideal coach for England Olympic team.

Coe told BBC Radio Five Live that he had spoken to Sir Alex about the idea. Sir Alex is set to retire within the next couple of years.

Coe went on to add that Ferguson was the ideal coach/manager to have looking after the Under 23 players. He has proved in the past that he has an excellent track record when it comes to the nurturing of the youth.

Sir Alex has yet to comment on the talks that took place.

England has not sent a football team to the Olympic Games since 1960.

What a inaccurate story this is....Ferguson is being targeted as the coach of the "British" team for the Olympics ...England does not compete in the Olympics as a sole nation. Please get the facts correct before posting news please.

"England has not sent a football team to the Olympic games since 1960." England did not send a football team to the World Cup untill 1950. They thought they were the best in the world. In 1950 United State beat them 1-0. Afterwards, Hungary humiliated them in a back to back game! Obviously team England have not opened their eyes yet!

"England"? The IOC won't allow that. Now a United Kingdom team, absolutely.

With Alex Fercuson at the helm, I'm quite sure he will put together a great British team that will beat anyone in the world. Let's hope it happens.

TalentScout,

You are so right about the EU superstate. It is nothing but a socialist dictatorship.

And I hate socialism, because it is the very same thing as communism.

To hell with the EU !!!!!!!!

this may not be the place to discuss politics but ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT is coming, like it or not !

US, Canada and Mexico will be in the North American Union so as to better 'compete' economically with EU since the USD is going to hell anyway.

then the Latin America in MERCOSUR as led by Hugo Chavez so as to counter American imperialism..........

and already there's an United States of Africa...........no bullshit............

so no more Euro or World Cup in the future, eh ? LOL...........LOL...........

Giorgio, just when I was beginnign to like you! Capitalism has never been know for helping the poor but, on the contrary, it is known for exploiting them. I am a poor man. I need all the help I can get! Can you send me some money? A bit of Socialism is necessary to show the world that we have some remote resemblance to the egalitarian ways of Jesus! Pardon moi if I said something obscene!

I think we'll just have to leave the politics discussion for some other time.

Here are the real facts...sir Alex will never cpach any team but Man U cause he needs the money and foreign players to win anything. He proved this with Ireland in the World Cup of '86. And lastly, it won't matter cause the world will end in 2012 anyway, so enjoy life now....LOL!!!!

DaJohnner, I can see you follow the calendar of the Mayas of the Yucatan peninsula. Have you started your pilgrimage there yet?
