BERLIN/SALZBURG (SW) - Hertha BSC and Red Bull Salzburg are practically certain of a spot in the next preliminary round of the UEFA Cup, each beating their opponent by a seven-goal margin.
Hertha built up a comfortable 5-0 lead at half time, and would eventually win the match with FC Nistru Otaci 8-1. Top scorer in Germany was Piszczek, who found the net in three occasions.
Ngwat-Mahop was the big hero in Austria, scoring three goals against Armenian side Banants Yerevan. The home side scored four of its seven goals in the first half.
With a 1-6 win at Bangor City, Danish side FC Midtjylland did themselves a great favour as well. Christensen scored a hat-trick in that match.
The return legs are planned for July 31st.
