LOS ANGELES (AFP) - David Beckham posted his team-leading seventh assist of the season as the Los Angeles Galaxy rallied to tie Chivas USA 1-1 at the Home Depot Centre on Thursday.
Beckham's seventh helper on a goal by Edson Buddle is one short of the Major League Soccer lead.
Chivas (6-6-4) lost the first meeting against the Galaxy this season, 5-2, on April 26 but appeared to be on their way to retribution after Ante Razov gave them a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute on Thursday.
Razov, who began his career with the Galaxy in 1996, stroked a left-footed shot from outside the box that bent into the top left corner of the net past Galaxy goalkeeper Steve Cronin.
However, after holding the lead for a majority of the game, Buddle evened the score in the 72nd minute with his 11th goal of the season - all of which have come in the last nine games.
Landon Donovan, who logged a hat trick during the teams' first meeting, found Buddle cutting through the right side of the 22-yard box. Buddle snuck his shot through the legs of Chivas goalie Brad Guzan to tie Donovan for the MLS lead in goals this season.
Beckham had a chance to give the Galaxy the win in the final minute but failed to get a shot off from in close.
