TOKYO (AFP) - Japanese international striker Naohiro Takahara has agreed to join J-League side Urawa Red Diamonds from Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, the Japanese club said Sunday.

The 28-year-old will officially sign after a medical while the two clubs discuss details of the transfer, AFC champions Urawa Reds said in a statement.

Urawa reportedly want Takahara to fill the gap left by Brazilian marksman Washington, who moved to Brazil's Fluminense at the end of the 2007 J-League season.

They are expected to offer Takahara a three-year contract worth as much as 150 million yen (1.4 million dollars) annually, the Nikkan Sports newspaper said.

Takahara, formerly with J-League side Jubilo Iwata, struggled to get playing time at SV Hamburg during four seasons before moving to Frankfurt in mid-2006.

This season his opportunities have been limited with just eight games and one goal to his name.

However, he remains among the top names in the Japan national team.

Takahara scored a tournament-leading four goals in Japan's failed attempt to win a third straight Asian Cup last July.

Japanese media have also reported that Yokohama Marinos hope to re-sign Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura when his contract with the Glasgow giants expires at the end of June, although Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has said he does not want him to move.
