HONOLULU, Hawaii (AFP) - Brazilian striker Bare scored four goals as Gamba Osaka won the inaugural Pan Pacific Championship football crown with a 6-1 victory over Major League Soccer champion Houston Dynamo.

Ricardo Clark gave the US side the lead in the 11th minute but the Japanese side took command from there, completing a hat-trick with goals in the 14th, 28th and 60th minutes and adding another in the 72nd.

Another Brazilian, Lucas, found the net in the 64th minute while Masato Yamazaki completed the scoring in the 78th minute.

"I am very pleased with how we used an aggressive style and we showed that we have very strong condition," Gamba Osaka coach Akira Nishino said.

Houston's Dominic Kinnear smiled when he called the lopsided loss "the worst of my life" given the pre-season exhibition tuneup status of the matches for the US club.

The Los Angeles Galaxy beat Australia's Sydney FC 2-1 for third place.

English midfielder David Beckham, whose drawing power served as the basis for the creation of the event, set up both Galaxy goals, Ely Allen's in the third minute and Josh Tudela's in the 45th.

Brendan Renaud struck for the Aussie club in the 42nd minute.

Beckham and the Galaxy continue their tour to Asia with matches Friday at Seoul and March 5 at Shanghai.
