MADRID (SW) - Real Madrid may have won the important Primera Division match with Valencia on Saturday, Rafael van der Vaart and Christoph Metzelder will be less happy after picking up injuries.
Metzelder broke his nose during the match, but did manage to remain on the pitch until the final whistle. On Monday, Real's medical staff will determine whether surgery is required.
It is in fact not the first time for the German to fracture his nose, having done so twice before while still under contract at Borussia Dortmund.
Rafael van der Vaart pulled his hamstring and whether the Dutchman can play Madrid's next game remains to be seen.
