LONDON (AFP) - Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has indicated that the club will be looking to sell Emile Heskey in the January transfer window given the England forward's reluctance to sign a new contract.

The 30-year-old's current deal expires in the summer and, having resurrected his England career, he has hinted that he would be interested in moving to a bigger club, which he would be able to do for nothing at the end of the season.

In contrast, if Wigan sell him in January, they could hope to raise upwards of two million pounds for the forward.

"Emile is out of contract in the summer, but he doesn't want to sign a new one at the moment," Whelan confirmed.

"It could cost us two, three or four million (pounds) if that goes on to next summer, so we'll have to see what January brings."

Heskey, who cost Wigan 5.5million when he joined from Birmingham in the summer of 2006, could attract interest from Everton, who have lost their main striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu for the season to an Achilles injury as well as having Louis Saha and James Vaughn currently sidetracked.
