The first five games of the Turkcell Super Lig were played on Saturday with a Galatasaray win at home over Denizlispor. Runners up Fenerbahçe lost the points away to Gaziantepspor and Bursaspor winning at Hacettepe.
As the Turkish league has begun, reigning champions Galatasaray got of to a wonderful start winning over Denizlispor 4-1 at home where Australian international Harry Kewell got on the scoring sheet in his first league match with the Istanbul giants.
Last years runners up Fenerbahçe could have wished for a better start losing away to Gaziantepspor where new signing Tabata had left it to the 80th minute to give Gaziantepspor a win over the Champions League competitors.
Bursaspor did have the start they wanted winning away to Hacettepe, 2-1. The match saw two penalties, one for each side. Gokhan Gulec, Bursaspors new signing, scored in the 86th minute to escape with the three points.
In the other two games, Sivasspor drew with Kayserispor where they played a even game and Super Lig newcomers Eskisehirspor drew away to Istanbul B.B.
