MADRID (AFP) - Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon is in Spain to negotiate with Real Madrid over the transfer of Brazil striker Robinho, Spanish media reported Friday.

Kenyon arrived in Madrid on Thursday to table a final offer put at 37 million euros, up seven million euros on their original proposal, according to sports daily Marca.

Madrid have a reported 40 million euro price tag on the player's head.

Kenyon's visit follows a declaration by Robinho's agent that Madrid had closed the door on Robinho's move to the Premier League.

"The dream of Chelsea is broken because Real Madrid will not even negotiate. It is impossible to advance any conversation," Wagner Ribeiro told the Daily Star this week.

Chelsea have been bidding to sign the 24-year-old following the appointment of his countryman Luiz Felipe Scolari as manager at Stamford Bridge.
