England’s football manager Fabio Capello has expressed confidence in his side ahead of Wednesday night’s friendly against the Czech Republic.

Capello said that he has been impressed by the progress that his England players have made in the four friendlies that they have had since he had taken over.

Speaking about Euro 2008 he also felt that the England team would have beaten the Spanish, that is had they been at the Championships.

He added that his biggest concern was the need for the English players to display the same self confidence when they play for their country as they do when they play for their clubs.

Capello also stated that the up – coming friendly would be an important one for many of the players who still have certain questions that need to be answered before he can make his final decision as to who will be ready for the first of the World Cup qualifiers next month, especially the match against Croatia, as well as for the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.

Even the great Capello will only be able to help this squad barely qualify for 2010. I cant see them even getting out of any group stages. Hopefully, he wont tarnish his managerial reputation too badly after all is said and done.

If you look at Englands group then would you on paper serioiusly consider anyone other than Croatia a threat to England's qualification for 2010 ? Even head to head England vs Croatia could go either way. England will be learning some lessons from their encounter with them since Euro 2008 qualifying groups. To me comfortable qualification for England is most likely result and perhaps from their friendly clashes with higher ranked teams we will get an idea of how serious a contender for WC crown 2010 they are.
