Spurs stun AS Roma in friendly

LONDON (SW) - Tottenham Hotspur confirmed their aspirations for the coming seasons by stunning Italian side AS Roma 5-0.

The two sides faced each other for a friendly at White Hart Lane on Sunday, and the home side never gave their opponents a chance.

New signing David Bentley had his dream debut by scoring from a free kick after just three minutes. And things got even better for the Spurs when Darren Ante doubled the lead a minute later.

Just before the break, Bentley netted his second of the day and Ante did exactly the same nine minutes into the second half.

Meanwhile, Aaron Lennon had already put his name on the score board as well to help his side earn an impressive 5-0 victory.

"stun"- quite an euphemism. Why didn't they simply say that Spurs kicked the shit out of Roma. As Giorgio's recent inquiry revealed there are no ladies and kids on this forum.

Bes Talent, I hope you're right. But so far, Italian teams have fared miserably against the English clubs.

Ajax, perhaps "stun" is bad enough to be classified as a euphemism for shit!

What counts is the end of the season, not its start. I don't doubt even for a moment that Roma will do much better than Spurs both in their respective leagues or at international level.

italian teams are notorious for starting slow and playing poorly in mean-nothing games. mid season is the real predictor.

hey p99, the only team that the spurs will knock down in the standings will be MU or Arsenal...the top two will easily be Liverpool, then Chelsea.

Personally...I think Arsenal would be the team knocked from the top four, should Tottenham continue this good form.

Wow...Italian teams need to wake up! Especially AS Roma...2nd place last year in Serie A. Juve and Milan will be itching to get back in the top two, and Inter looks like it could steamroll through Serie A.
