Ronaldinho and Pato stay with the Seleçao

MILAN (SW) - Galliani has given the go ahead for AC Milan's Ronaldinho and Pato to stay in China to participate in the Olympics.

Today it was announced by the Court of Arbitration for Sport that club teams are not obligated to let their under 23 players participate in the Olympics.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter was shocked at the decision and asked the clubs to let their players take part in the games as a "sign of solidarity". He further added that the Olympic games are a unique opportunity for a soccer player and that he is sorry that the Court of Arbitration for Sport didn’t take into consideration the Olympic spirit.

This may signal the end of the tournament for Brazilian pair Diego and Rafinha along with Argentine sensation Lionel Messi.

AC Milan President Adriano Galliani commented that despite the decision, Ronaldinho and Pato will stay in China to continue playing.

Before the tournament, Galliani decided that Pato could participate as he is Under 23 years of age. On the other hand, Kaka wasn't allowed to participate because he is over 23. Ronaldinho's choice to participate was respected as former club FC Barcelona had already given him the go ahead prior to his transfer to AC Milan.

Very noble gesture. On part of Galliani, that is. Looking forward to hear from Tonto too. Only thing Tonto - football should be tabu, otherwise, judging by the list of invited, the dinner's bound to degrade to a Gold rush bar brawl. And this won't go well with the name of the place which implies an aristocratic atmosphere.

haha i like how at the end is states, "Ronaldinho's choice to participate was respected as former club FC Barcelona had already given him the go ahead prior to his transfer to AC Milan" at the end. The one player Barca gives the thumbs up to is the player they let go.

But hey, Galliani is cool for doing this.

As long as AC Milan are happy with the situation, there shouldn't be a problem. They pay his salary so they should make the decisions. Good work, AC Milan.

Ajax, Le Chateau Frontenac could use some notoriety. Brawls are good for business. Just look at the money Rooney brings to his favorite pubs!

Tonto...glad for the invite and count me in. Just got back and was glad to know that I have had such an impact on my fellow soccerwayers in such a short period of time. Just got back from the cottage and realized that one of the Lotto 6/49 winners was from Quebec...Fred, was that you?....LOL ;-)
