Portsmouth’s Nigerian striker Nwanko Kanu has decided to stay at Fratton Park after all.

There had been some speculation that the thirty two year old striker may be on his way out of the club but those rumours were dispelled earlier today when he signed a new one – year deal with the club.

In a statement that he issued after the signing of the new contract he said that he loved it at the club and it was great to play with the current squad. He was not short in his praise of boss Harry Redknapp when he said that it was a privilege and an honour to play for him and he cited that as his main reason for wanting to stay.

He also said that he still wanted to see himself have more to offer the club.

Another Ajax gem. Pity his heart problems impeded his development. Still a pure joy to watch.

Good on you Kanu, a great player. Harry will be pleased too.
