Shevchenko not part of Scolari’s immediate plans

Dave Cohen - 2 August 2008 12:01

Andriy Shevchenko of Chelsea

New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has said that Andriy Shevchenko could struggle to make it into the first team squad this coming season.

Shevchenko missed a vital penalty in the penalty shout – out against Lokomotiv Moscow last evening in the Railway Cup.

This statement by Scolari follows a disappointing season last season for Shevchenko, which was spent mostly on the bench.

Three years ago Shevchenko was widely regarded as the best striker in the world. How things have gone terribly wrong for him in England !!

He should have stayed at Milan, without any doubt, and he'd still be a force to be reckoned with !!!!

He deserves it for the unloyalty he had shown towards Milan and Berlusca in particular.

He shouldn't miss a frigging penalty? I didn't see it so I can't say for sure but somewhere you've got to draw the line. He should probably be able to make that. Maybe Scolari is just sending out a message. Let alone, I think it is so that some player moves do not work out well and that is much like Shevvy's move.

Giorgio, I like you new avatar, US Triestina! Don't they have one for Monfalcone? BTW, does "U.S" stand for United States?

let him go and give some tier 2 clubs (financially only) with potential to win a chance. (i.e.-Portuguese sides Benfica, Porto, or even teams like Ajax, Galatasaray, etc. --maybe even MLS?)

Fred,

It stands for Unione Sportiva.

I haven't as yet found the Monfalcone avatar. I'm still busy looking.
