Bayern drop Sagnol for going public

FC Bayern München coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has dropped defender Willy Sagnol for Thursday's UEFA Cup semi-final second leg at FC Zenit St. Petersburg. Hitzfeld has punished the 31-year-old French international for criticising in the press the decision to use him as a right midielder in Sunday's win over VfB Stuttgart.
"He has no right to play," said Hitzfeld. Sagnol also complained that he received a lack of support from Bayern following his return from cartilage trouble last April. He has made just six Bundesliga starts this term.
